Licor Beirão, produced in the first J. Carranca Redondo distillery since 1929, is sold in over forty countries worldwide. Made with a secret recipe handed down for three generations, with thirteen botanical products and local spring water, this light liqueur was originally produced in the 19th century as a medicinal aid for stomachaches**. Cold maceration for at least three weeks allows the aromas and flavours of botanists to release all the essences to create the unmistakable taste. Each bottle is then adorned with a yellow ribbon that is still tied by hand, with an average production of 30,000 bottles per day!
Licor Beirão won the "Liquor of the Year in Portugal" award at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2015**. This liqueur is sweet, but not cloying. Delicate to the nose and palate, with notes of eucalyptus, rosemary, cinnamon and other spices, it has a refreshing touch of bitterness that perfectly compensates for the sweetest notes, and the scent of herbs and spices confirms its Portuguese origins unequivocally.
